We met at the old Albertsons just south of
I-20 on 377
Doug held the driver's Meeting before
loading up
We departed at 9:35 heading south then west
on a back road
our route took us only 2.1 miles down 377 (5 stop lights)
to turn on our first back road. Unfortunately, there
was also a "Ride for the Heros" cyclist ride down that
same road - would have been nice to know :(
We "shared the road" with the cyclist and finally came to
171 where they went north and we went south :)
Meanwhile in Granbury
Brazos River Corvette Club was meeting up in Granbury to
head over to the location we were meeting them
They then headed over to the meet point
Connecting with Brazos River Corvette Club
We pulled into the meeting point about 10:35 where 10
Vettes from BRCC and one of our members were waiting.
On down the highway
After visiting with BRCC members for a bit, plus allowing
cruisers time for a pit stop, we headed on out towards
RCL.
People were pulling over on the side of the road to watch
and take photos
Arrival at Rough Creek Lodge
We arrived at the gate around 11:40 where we were greeted
by a RCL guide; they had both ends of the 2.4 mile private
road blocked for our Corvette Caravan of 38 Vettes.
Jose and the staff at RCL did a great job taking care of
us.
They had special parking area (wasn't big enough) prepared
for us; with guides to help get them parked. Once
parked, we strolled to the lodge entrance.
Inside the Lodge
They had tables setup with tea, water and place settings
for the number of folks we had called ahead to provide.
The food line was opened and folks helped their own plates
at the buffet
MENU
As most were finishing lunch, John Armes
(CTV President) spoke a few words about today's event and
the fact that this was a cruise Mike Lanzara had
been working with Doug on for several months, prior to his
passing
John Bratta (BRCC President) also shared
some nice words about Mike and his love for Cars and
people having fun
