Once in Santa Fe,
we enjoyed visiting the
Loretta Chapel - an 1878
Chapel.
Today,
it is only used for Weddings and special occasions
...the original staircase to reach the choir loft 22'
above included two 360 turns. It had
no visible
means of support, no handrails, etc. Also,
mysterious
carpenter who designed
and built the staircase was never found again - a total
mystery
over the years, handrails and a few support brackets had been
added
This was
a historic Route 66 Motel originally - it has since been
expanded (same look)
These were part of the 1936 Inn shows the
original 12 rooms
that the Inn had back in the day. In 1994 it
expanded to 21 rooms. It currently has
86 rooms and sits on 5 acres.
Great rooms (left)
patio for visiting (right)
...lots of gardens and flowers around the motel
Dinner Reservations
Tonight we enjoyed dinner at the
2nd Street Brewery - a few blocks
away from the Inn
...and WOW - The Original Alien Burger
was GREAT!!!
All-natural Angus patty topped with an organic blue corn
dusted relleno, chile-jack cheese, smoked bacon, stout
queso, Hatch green chile, crispy fried onions,
guacamole, chipotle mayo - with beer battered onion
rings on the side
