DAY 6 - Thursday 6/23 continued

more of the Million Dollar Highway

before dropping into Silverton, we stopped and took photos at the overlook

while there, the Texas Mustang Club drove by

Silverton, Colorado

Silverton is a small town which still has only ONE paved street

...as we pulled into Silverton, it was raining

OH HAIL ...it started hailing - luckily
small hail, not Texas-size hail

next was some on your own time in Silverton which included grabbing lunch - a group of us stopped in at the Handlebar Saloon

Heading on up the Million Dollar Highway

We loaded up and headed on up the Million Dollar Highway towards Ouray

We got our first glimpse of the Switzerland of America mountains

we stopped traffic for a bit so we could take these awesome photos

actually we didn't ...it was road construction

the cyclist from Germany & Switzerland caught
up with us - and we enjoyed chatting with them

...some opted to clean their car with the 20+ minute delay - wasn't a bad idea either

there was a rushing steam coming down out of the mountains on this switchback ...and it comes out the other side of the highway almost violent
we were told we could leave in a few minutes, so we loaded up.  ...and she said, one last photo of the Corvettes please

as we headed on up the highway, the switchbacks were so tight that we could wave to each other
...a little more rain

Heading on up the Million Dollar Highway - Ouray Colorado

just before entering Ouray, you are presented with the Switzerland of America landmark - see, I didn't make it up

then we checked into our lodging, the Ouray Victorian Inn and everyone was on their own until time for dinner

we cruised thru town and pointed out a few things that people could enjoy for the afternoon.  Some of those included the hot springs pool, Cascade Falls, shopping - where dinner was this evening, etc.

most opted to relax and enjoy the area at the back of the hotel, by the raging river

some of us walked to dinner - some drove

Dinner tonight was on main street, at the Outlaw Restaurant - great food and service
A few additional photos (13) from tonight's dinner

...couldn't tell if Donald was photo-bombing or comparing the shine?

 after Dinner

several went back to the Inn while others went strolling (lots of flowers around town). Not to mention lots of shopping - where you could find lots of stuff - some even true but useless

Cascade Falls was very visible from main street
...if you are into hiking, Upper Cascade Falls has awesome views
